Hackley’s Mustafaa Dais swept all three jumping events in the Ivy League Track and Field Championships at The Armory Wednesday.
The junior from Pomona won the triple jump at 43 feet, 6 1/2 inches, the high jump at 6 feet and the long jump at 20-7 1/2.
The Hackley boys team finished second overall behind Collegiate. The Hornets’ Ian Parnell won the 300 meters (36.54 seconds) and finished third in the 55 (6.82). Pietro Moran took the 1,000 (2:42.32). Ian Mook placed second in both the 55 hurdles (8.48) and the long jump (17-7 1/2).
The Hackley girls team finished third behind Poly Prep and Trinity, which tied for first. The Hornets’ Alyza Ngbokoli won the 55 hurdles (8.98) and placed second in both the triple jump (33-5) and the high jump (4-10). Tessa Cavanaugh was second in the 300 (44.8) and third in the 55 (7.64).
Hockey: Frazier Bostwick scored twice in the first period to propel John Jay to a 7-1 win over Pearl River in a Section 1 Division 2 quarterfinal at Brewster Ice Arena Wednesday night. Jack Grimm had two goals and one assist. Connor McMorrow scored for the No. 6 Pirates. Teammate Sam Coughlin made 32 saves. The top-seeded Indians will face fourth-seeded Pelham Friday night at 7 at Brewster Ice Arena.
Fencing: Eric Duarte won three bouts and Kevin Collado won two in Rye Country Day’s 6-3 victory over visiting St. Ann’s in boys foil. In a 7-2 win in girls foil, Cynthia Luo won three bouts. Bonnie Ishiguro went 2-1. In boys epee, a 5-4 win, Naropa Perez went 2-0 and Marco Bohorquez went 2-1. In RCDS’ 6-3 win in girls epee, Jess Cordiano won three bouts and Michael Katzovitz won two. In a 6-3 win in boys sabre, Ruben Conn went 3-0. John Rigby went 2-1.
RCDS 5, Greenwich 4: At Rye Country Day Wednesday, Ishiguro and Emma Chu each won two bouts in the Wildcats’ narrow victory in girls foil. In a 5-4 loss in boys foil, Collardo, Duarte, Riley Kaminer and Edward Kim each won one bout. In a 5-4 win in boys epee, Perez and Bohorquez each won two bouts. In a 7-2 win in girls epee, Katzovitz and Cordiano each went 3-0. Rigby and Conn each had two wins in RCDS’ 5-4 victory in boys sabre. In girls sabre, Annie Canning and Olivia Nichols each won three bouts in a 7-2 win.
