Lowndes Academy quarterback Cody Harrell has been named the Montgomery Quarterback Club’s private school player of the week and Tallassee running back Herman McKenzie the public school player of the week for the games of the Sept. 20.
Both players will be honored at the club’s next meeting on Tuesday.
Barbara Dooley will be the featured speaker at the club’s Annual Ladies Night.
Cody Harrell, a junior, passed for 226 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 196 yards and a touchdown in Lowndes Academy’s 40-20 win over Abbeville Christian. Lowndes Academy, coached by Matt Marshall, is 2-2 on the season and hosts South Choctaw Academy on Friday.
Herman McKenzie, a junior, rushed for 235 yards on 26 carries and four touchdowns in Tallassee’s 28-7 win over Headland.
Tallassee, coached by Mike Battles, is 3-1 on the season and hosts Dadeville on Friday.
The Montgomery QB Club meets at the Montgomery Country Club on Narrow Lane Road.
The social hour begins at 5:30 followed by dinner at 6:30 and the program at 7.
