THE WINNER: Larry Tuileta


School: Punahou School (Honolulu, Hawaii)
Grade: Senior
Position: QB
Height: 6-foot-3
Weight: 205 pounds

Athletic achievement: He led the Buff n’ Blu to an 11-0 record and the Division I state championship this past season. Tuileta threw for 2,618 yards and 28 touchdowns on 154-of-253 passing, misfiring with just four interceptions. The state’s returning Gatorade Football Player of the Year, Tuileta passed for 265 yards and three touchdowns without an interception in a 28-22 win over Mililani (Hawaii) in the state championship game.

Academic excellence: Tuileta has maintained a 3.06 GPA.

Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally on behalf of Habitat for Humanity, at an area food bank and homeless shelter and as a youth volleyball coach.


“Larry Tuileta is a true leader and the heart and soul of our team,” said Punahou School head coach Kale Ane. “His consistent approach and work ethic has been a huge part of our success.”

THE FUTURE: Tuileta has verbally committed to Hawaii.
