Jared Armstrong of Fern Creek, who stood third after the five-game preliminaries, won three straight stepladder games — including a perfect 300 in the finals — to capture the Region Three high school bowling championship Tuesday night.
Armstrong bowled the perfect game and beat PRP’s Anthony Alvey, who bowled a 299 earlier in the tournament.
Armstrong, Alvey, Bullitt Central’s Jareth Howerton and Fairdale’s Jerry Whobrey all advance to the state tournament Feb. 7-8 at Executive Strike and Spare.
On the girls’ side, PRP’s Keelyn Cox won the regional, edging Mercy’s Megan Minch 196-194 in the finals.
Cox, Minch, PRP’s Shelby Bigos and North Bullitt’s Courtney Donaldson all advance to the state tourney.
