PENNY HILL – Tavio Cone rushed for 183 yards and three touchdowns to lead Mount Pleasant to a 28-20 win over Christiana in a Blue Hen Flight B contest on Saturday afternoon.
Cone scored on runs of 53, 14 and 9 yards as the Green Knights (4-5, 4-3) built a 28-6 lead by the end of the third quarter. Jayshawn Johnson rushed for 138 yards and scored the Knights’ last touchdown on a 61-yard run.
Caleb Lum posted two interceptions and broke up a pass while Nigel Bynum and Ronald Shipman-Scott also made interceptions for Mount Pleasant. Jaylan Maxson scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to bring the Vikings (1-8, 0-6) close.
Conrad 35, Tatnall 21NEWPORT – Raymond Sanchez rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns to help Conrad rally from a third-quarter deficit and down Tatnall.
The Redskins (3-5) trailed 21-14 before scoring the last 21 points of the game. Quarterback Tyler Wilson started the rally as he ran 5 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter to tie it up. Sanchez sprinted 92 yards for a score in the fourth quarter to put Conrad ahead to stay. The Redskins later got some insurance when Wilson tossed a 35-yard touchdown pass to Yusuf Dandridge.
Concord 41, Appoquinimink 7BRANDYWINE HUNDRED – Brothers Matt and Mark Mellette combined for 122 yards rushing and three touchdowns in the first half to spark Concord to a victory over Appoquinimink in a Blue Hen Flight A game.
Austin Coughenour also connected with Brycen Alleyne on a 33-yard touchdowns pass as the Raiders jumped out to a 28-0 halftime lead. Elijah Davis had a 35-yard interception return for a touchdown, and Alex Mikalajczyk capped off the scoring with a 32-yard run in the fourth quarter. The Raiders moved to 5-4 overall and 5-2 in Flight A games to keep their Division I playoff hopes alive.
Sekayi Hercules scored Appoquinimink’s lone touchdown on a 21-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Wilmington Friends 30, MATHS Charter 6ALAPOCAS – Stephen Maguire ran for 118 yards and a touchdown to lead Wilmington Friends to a victory over MATHS Charter (Md.). Jack Kempner went 7 for 10 for 69 yards and threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Jake Erskine. Kempner also ran for 50 yards and scored on a 4-yard run.
