PENNY HILL – Tavio Cone rushed for 126 yards as Mount Pleasant posted its first win of the season with a 21-14 Blue Hen Flight B victory over Dickinson.
The Green Knights took a 14-0 first-quarter lead as freshman Jashawn Johnson fired a 23-yard touchdown pass to Justice Grimes while Armond Carter returned a fumble 77 yards for a score.
Johnson scored what proved to be the game-winning touchdown on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter to give the Green Knights (1-4, 1-3) a 21-8 advantage. Cone also contributed an interception. Dickinson fell to (2-3, 1-2).
Brandywine 56, Christiana 20CHRISTIANA – Tyrezz Walker scored four touchdowns as Brandywine downed Christiana in a Blue Hen Flight B game.
Walker scored three times in the first quarter as he caught a 12-yard scoring pass from Sayvon Willis and ran for touchdowns of 25 and 29 yards. He added a 56-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
Stefon Johnson rushed for two touchdowns of 6 and 32 yards in the second quarter as the Bulldogs (4-1, 2-0) amassed a 49-14 halftime lead. Richard Hill ran back a kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown, and Anthony McGriff took an interception 68 yards for another score for Brandywine.
Jaylan Maxson scored twice for Christiana (1-4, 0-4) on a 90-yard kickoff return and a 68-yard run.
Conrad 29, St. Andrew’s 28MIDDLETOWN – Conrad rallied with two fourth-quarter touchdowns to wipe out an 11-point deficit and edge St. Andrew’s in a nonconference game.
The Redskins (2-3) trailed 28-17 in the final stanza but scored on Dayne Llamas’ 5-yard and quarterback Tyler Wilson’s 67-yard touchdown pass to Christopher Johns to post the come-from-behind victory. Conrad trailed 14-10 at halftime and 22-17 entering the fourth quarter.
Raymond Sanchez led the Conrad rushing attack with 104 yards, while Llamas added 54 yards and two touchdowns, the other one coming on a 30-yard run. Wilson went 8 for 12 for 151 yards and also scored on a 2-yard run.
Ryan Price scored two touchdowns for the Saints (1-3) on a 43-yard pass from Ryan Bellissimo and a 50-yard run. Anthony Holley also scored for St. Andrew’s on a 1-yard run.
St. Georges 42, Charter 6WILMINGTON – Taronn Selby scored three touchdowns while Keyjuan Selby tallied two to spark St .Georges to a victory over Charter of Wilmington in a nonconference matchup.
Tarron Selby rushed for 120 yards and scored on runs of 15 and 42 yards. He also scored a touchdown on a 55-yard interception return, one of five turnovers forced by the Hawks’ defense. Keyjuan Selby added touchdown runs of 10 and 13 yards.
Lake Forest 16, Indian River 13FELTON – Lake Forest took an early lead and made it hold up as it held off Indian River in a Henlopen Conference South game.
Lake Forest (3-2, 1-1) took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter as Ridgely Betts hit Michael Sabino with a touchdown pass and DyVaunte Bordley ran for another touchdown. The Indians (2-2, 1-1) drew with one point in the third quarter before the Spartans tallied a safety to give them their final margin.
