MARSHALL – Koby Pierce threw three touchdown passes during a 33-point first quarter Friday night, and Fountain Central scored on five of its first seven plays on the way to a 47-6 victory at Turkey Run.
The game was called by lightning after one series of the third quarter.
Pierce hooked up with Jaren Oakley for a 59-yard score to open the game. After Jared Fishero’s 32-yard run made it 14-0, Pierce found Trevor Loevall for a 40-yard TD that upped the Mustangs’ lead to 20-0.
Ethan Woodrow hauled in the first of his two touchdown passes from Pierce, a 24-yarder, to make it 27-0, and Daniel Harrison’s 47-yard touchdown run rounded out the first 12 minutes of action.
Fountain Central (2-0) increased its lead to 47-0 by halftime on Collin Strange’s 16-yard run and Woodrow’s 26-yard touchdown catch.
Pierce was 5 of 6 passing for 172 yards. Harrison’s 52 yards rushing helped the Mustangs rush for 180. Meanwhile, Fountain Central’s defense held Turkey Run to minus-37 yards rushing and 60 yards passing. All but one of the passing yards came against the Mustangs’ reserves in the third quarter.
North Montgomery 20
LINDEN – Touchdown runs by Alex Parsons, Jalen West and Joel Kauth led the Chargers in a game ended by lightning early in the second quarter.
After Parsons’ 5-yard score to open the game, North Montgomery’s Cody Michael forced a fumble recovered by teammate Skyler Heide at the Tindley 20. Two plays later, West scored from there to make it 13-0.
Pinned at its own 2, Tindley got off only a 6-yard punt and Kauth scored on the next play from scrimmage. The Chargers only had possession for 1:48 of the game’s 17:47.
North Putnam 0
ROACHDALE – Nathaniel Farrabee rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown for the Mounties (1-1).
Devon Burton’s 24-yard touchdown pass to Zach Worm with five minutes to play in the first quarter was the only scoring in the first half. Farrabee (5 yards) and Chance Brown (6 yards) ran for third-quarter touchdowns.
North Putnam (0-2) was held to 15 net yards rushing on 28 carries, lost four turnovers and committed 11 penalties for 103 yards.
INDIANAPOLIS – Le’Vante Bellomy and Jack Roberts each scored a pair of touchdowns for Class 3A No. 1 Brebeuf (2-0).
The Braves limited Crawfordsville (0-2) to 18 net rushing yards on 39 carries and 101 total yards.
