WILMINGTON – Chaz Sydnor caught a 48-yard touchdown pass from Earnest Austin with 54 seconds left in the game to give Howard an 18-14 comeback victory over Dickinson in a Blue Hen Flight B game on Saturday afternoon at Baynard Stadium.
Sydnor then sealed the Wildcat victory by picking up an interception with 28 seconds left. Earlier he caught a 4-yard scoring toss from Austin to put Howard (5-3, 4-2) on the scoreboard in the second quarter after the Rams (2-6, 2-4) had jumped to a 14-0 first-quarter lead.
The Wildcats still trailed 14-6 entering the fourth quarter but got within two on Raekwon Wells’ 2-yard touchdown run.
St. Georges 62, Brandywine 25BRANDYWINE HUNDRED – Taronn Selby ran for two touchdowns and returned interceptions for two more as St. Georges defeated Brandywine in Blue Hen Flight B action on Saturday morning.
The Hawks (7-1, 5-1) led just 22-14 after the first quarter but then pulled away to lead 37-17 at halftime and 49-25 after three quarters.
Selby rushed for 112 yards and scored on runs of 29 and 8 yards. He ran back interceptions for touchdowns of 45 and 60 yards as he accounted for two of five turnovers the Hawks caused on the day.
Keyjuan Selby scored two touchdowns for St. Georges, one on a 34-yard pass from Zachary Wright and the other on a 90-yard kickoff return. Wright threw for 113 yards. Tymiere Griffin and Angelo Ortiz also scored rushing touchdowns for the Hawks.
The Bulldogs fell to 4-3, 2-2.
William Penn 31, Charter 15NEW CASTLE – Reggie Carroll rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns to lead William Penn to a victory over Charter of Wilmington in Blue Hen Flight A play.
Carroll scored on a 73-yard run in the first quarter to give the Colonials (5-3, 5-1) a 7-0 halftime lead. He added an 8-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Martin Ayan rushed for 134 and finished off the Colonial scoring with a 42-yard run in the fourth quarter. Daniel Johnson had a 2-yard touchdown run for William Penn.
Tower Hill 48, Conrad 12NEWPORT – Sam Murphy ran for 205 yards and three touchdowns and caught a touchdown pass to spark unbeaten Tower Hill to a victory over Conrad in a nonconference game.
Murphy scored on runs of 73, 42 and 58 yards in addition to catching a 10-yard scoring strike from quarterback Matt Smith. The Hillers (8-0) spotted Conrad (2-5) a 6-0 lead in the first quarter before scoring 48 unanswered points.
Wilmington Friends 41, St. Andrew’s 16ALAPOCAS – Jimmy Carney ran for 147 yards and three touchdowns to lead Wilmington Friends to a win over St. Andrew’s in Independent Conference action. Carney posted touchdowns runs of 18, 19 and 10 yards as the Quakers (3-4, 2-0) scored all their points in the first half. Jake Erskine ran for 140 yards and two touchdowns for Wilmington Friends while Jonathan Gardner recovered two fumbles. St. Andrew’s dropped to 2-5.
Tatnall 24, Christiana 16GREENVILLE – Sam Ragland rushed for 106 yards and three touchdowns as Tatnall rallied from an early deficit to top Christiana in a nonconference game.
The Hornets (2-6) trailed 16-0 after the first quarter but Ragland scored twice in the second quarter and then tallied the go-ahead touchdown on a 3-yard run in the third quarter to put Tatnall ahead to stay at 21-16.
Glasgow 32, Delcastle 12BELVEDERE – Lammot Brown rushed for 196 yards and two touchdowns to lead Glasgow to a victory over Delcastle in a Blue Hen Flight A game. Brown scored on runs of 4 and 75 yards, the latter score giving the Dragons (4-4, 3-3) a 20-12 halftime lead.
