The Buzz: Dontavius Bruce had 378 all-purpose yards to help lead the Conquistadors. The Quistors rushed for 265 yards as a team. Junior quarterback Ross Trail passed for 217 yards in his debut with OB.
3. South Panola
Last week: beat White Station 42-27 This week: vs. No. 4 West Point (Thursday)
The Buzz: Darrell Henderson did more than just run the football. He also ran a punt return back 84 yards for the game’s first touchdown. QB Rip Kirk tossed for 120 yards and a touchdown, and the Tiger D had three interceptions, including two by Ephraim Kitchens, who returned one for a touchdown.
4. West Point

The Buzz: The Green Wave did not play on Friday. West Point will focus on getting some revenge on third-ranked South Panola after the Tigers knocked off the Wave 12-10 last year on a 26-yard field goal by Clayton Sibley with 9 seconds left in the game.
5. Oak Grove

The Buzz: The Warriors were one of three Super 10 teams that did not play in Week 1. Oak Grove will face the War Eagles for the first time since 2002 in the 5A South State championship game. The two teams have met five times. Wayne County has won all of them.

The Buzz: Running backs Tyus Raine and James Milledge combined to rush for 189 yards, and first-year starting QB Kyle Smith accounted for three scores, while Dandy Dozen WR Jesse Jackson had six catches for 44 yards and a touchdown.

The Buzz: Running back Richard McQuarley was a one-man show for the Wildcats Friday night. He had 147 receiving yards with two touchdowns and also rushed for 97 yards and a score. Antonio Owens had a 23-yard interception return for a touchdown to seal the win.

The Buzz: The Maroon Tide were off in Week 1. Picayune will bring its run-heavy offense up I-59 to face the sixth-ranked Panthers on Friday night. The Tide rushed for 514 yards and had seven rushing touchdowns last year in a 56-35 rout of the Panthers.
9. Madison Central
Last week: lost No. 1 Brandon 21-14 This week: vs. Gulfport
The Buzz: Trey Smith and quarterback Joseph Willis gave the Jaguars something to build on in a loss to top-ranked Brandon. Smith had 93 yards rushing, while Willis passed for 66 yards and a touchdown. The Jags’ also forced two turnovers on defense.
Last week: beat No. 10 Noxubee County 17-0 This week: vs. Oxford
The Buzz: The Yellowjackets held the Tigers to 175 yards of total offense and forced a couple of turnovers Preston Jones passed for 125 yards with two touchdowns. Up next is a rematch of last season’s second-round 5A playoff game, which Starkville won 28-7.
