Trinity senior Jake Engle had three field goals, including a 23-yard field goal with less than 3 minutes remaining in a 9-6 win over Midfield at Boykin Field.
The Wildcats (3-1, 3-0), ranked 8th in Class 3A, struggled to move the ball all night, gaining only 158 yards of total offense.
Midfield (2-2, 1-2) junior defensive lineman Joseph Murry had 14 tackles, a sack and recovered a fumble in a losing effort.
The Patriots held Trinity to only 46 total yards in the first half. Midfield senior quarterback Aaron Gaines completed 22 of 35 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for 44 yards.
“That was a great high school football game,” Trinity head coach Randy Ragsdale said. “Much credit goes to (Midfield coach Rod) Isaac and his staff.”
The teams played a scoreless opening quarter. Trinity got on the board first with a 41-yard field goal by Jake Engle in the second quarter.
Midfield answered with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Gaines to receiver Akeem Cook to make the score 6-3 at halftime.
Engle tied the score at 6 with a 29-yard field goal in the third quarter.
Trinity won despite giving up 302 yards of offense to Midfield.
