PLAYERS TO WATCH

Liza Harbin, Franklin, Sr.: Ole Miss commitment has scored 16 goals, second on the team, with three assists as center midfielder.

Morgan Mooney, Fairview, Sr.: District 11-A/AA tournament MVP leads team in goals (24) and assists (18).

Karlie Paschall, Ravenwood, Fr.: U.S. U-14 national team member is already drawing recruiting attention from Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Duke.

Kirstin Robertson, Harpeth Hall, Sr.: Austin Peay commitment earned region MVP honors while scoring 24 goals with five assists.

Korrie Sauder, Battle Ground Academy, Jr.: Versatile center fullback has scored a team-leading 18 goals along with six assists.

TEAMS TO WATCH

Class A/AA: Fairview makes its first state tournament appearance in any team sport but opens against Knoxville Catholic, which is favored to win it all. Christ Presbyterian Academy, which won last year’s title and advanced to the 2011 final, reached the quarterfinals for the seventh straight year.

Class AAA: Houston (20-0-1), ranked No. 3 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America national poll, is the favorite. Franklin (16-2-5) returns after a one-year absence and is ranked 12th in the NSCAA regional poll, one spot behind Farragut (18-2-3). Ravenwood (12-1-4) makes its third state tournament appearance in four years.

Division II-A: Battle Ground Academy (14-3-5) qualified after dropping down from DII-AA but faces the top seed from the West, St. George’s. University School of Jackson probably will be the finalist from the other side of the bracket.

Division II-AA: Father Ryan (16-0-3), 21st in the NSCAA national poll, is the defending champion. It could be an all-Nashville final as Harpeth Hall makes its second straight Final Four appearance.
