Hayley Sherwood had nine kills and 11 assists to lead the Trumansburg volleyball team to a 3-0 home victory over Lansing on Monday in season-ending Interscholastic Athletic Conference action at Wes Somerville Gym.
The Blue Raiders — who won by scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 25-17 — wrapped up a perfect regular season at 17-0 overall, 14-0 in the IAC.
Chloe Mount and Anna Shelley added five kills apiece for T-burg, champion of the Large North Division. The Blue Raiders will take on South champion Thomas A. Edison (14-2 IAC) Friday evening in Trumansburg for the IAC Large School championship. That match will be preceded by the best-of-3 JV title match, slated for 5 p.m., featuring North champ Dryden (13-1) vs. South winner Waverly (11-5). The varsity final will begin 22 minutes after the completion of the JV match.
The Small School championships will take place Friday at Southern Cayuga, with both the JV and varsity matches featuring the host Chiefs against Tioga. The SC-Tioga JV match will begin at 4:30 p.m., with the varsity to follow. Tioga brings a 15-1 IAC record into the varsity final, while Southern Cayuga finished the regular season at 9-5.
Tioga 3, Newark Valley 0: On Monday at Tioga, the South Large champion Tigers swept the Cardinals, 25-14, 25-10 and 25-17, led by Bryanna Godfrey (13 kills, two digs), Malley Bowen (five kills, 16 assists) and Lexi Swagler (six kills). Madi Obregon had four assists and Jordie Obregon two kills for the Cardinals (5-11).
Edison 3, Newfield 0: At Newfield, Makia Hall had six service points to lead the Spartans to a straight-sets victory over the host Trojans on Senior Night. Game scores were 25-10, 25-12 and 25-21.
It was the final varsity match for Newfield seniors Emily Hatch, Breann Walker, Sam Blanford and Brianna Zichetella.
