BEAR – Aaron Hudson had nine carries for 110 yards and two touchdowns as the Caravel Buccaneers beat Archmere, 20-19, in nonconference action Friday night.
Derrick Groomes had 143 total yards on the night for the Division II top-ranked Buccaneers (3-2). Archmere’s Francis McVey picked up a 28-yard touchdown reception in the final minute, but a missed extra point kept the game from going into overtime. The Auks fell to 2-3 on the season.
A.I. du Pont 41, Appoquinimink 0MIDDLETOWN – Junior quarterback Freddie Heard passed for three touchdowns and ran for two more to lead A.I. du Pont to a victory over Appoquinimink in Blue Hen Flight A action on Friday night.
Heard went 15 for 18 for 334 yards and fired touchdown passes of 65 and 56 yards to Quadree Henderson and 6 yards to Aaron Limberry. Heard also ran for 84 yards and scored on runs of 13 and 14 yards.
Henderson had seven catches for 208 yards. Jesse Hall also scored for A.I. on a 2-yard run.
Brandon Williams preserved the shutout by making an interception in the end zone in the fourth quarter.
St. Mark’s 31, Delaware Military 0MILLTOWN – T.J. Brown rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns as St. Mark’s blanked Delaware Military.
Quarterback Jack Whitehead passed for 180 yards and threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to Michael Adams. Markquise Normand had a 15-yard rushing touchdown, and Jeff Richards booted an 18-yard field goal.
Sussex Central 43, Smyrna 6GEORGETOWN – Tarez White scored three touchdowns as Sussex Central cruised to a victory over Smyrna in a Henlopen North game.
White scored Sussex Central’s first touchdown on a 2-yard run and later caught 65- and 23-yard scoring strikes from Amontay Clanton. Kevin Simms scored two touchdowns on runs of 35 and 40 yards while Timothy Jones added a 34-yard scoring run.
Aaron Wilson scored Smyrna’s lone touchdown on a 53-yard run.
