Trumansburg scored two second-half goals in the span of a minute and defeated host Union Springs, 2-0, on Thursday in Interscholastic Athletic Conference North Large Division boys soccer action.
After a scoreless first half, Jacob Cozzarin broke through with a shot that went off the crossbar and in, on a pass from Aidan Coon. Then a minute later, Abreham Kittel split the defense after a feed from Cozzarin and beat Wolves keeper Meyson Paz.
Wes Regnier earned the shutout with 11 saves for the Blue Raiders, while Paz stopped 12 shots for Union Springs. T-burg had the edge in shots (27-11) and corner kicks (10-3).
Trumansburg takes on host Watkins Glen at 5 p.m. Friday night in the consolation game of the GLM Memorial Tournament. Undefeated Dryden takes on Elmira Notre Dame in the tournament final at 7.
Dryden 3, Moravia 0: On Wednesday at Moravia, the Purple Lions (4-0) got two kills and 10 points from Vanessa Scott in the sweep. Game scores were 25-12, 25-15 and 25-11. Alex Zehr added a kill and a team-best 12 service points. Both Scott and Zehr served four aces.
Caitlyn Hafl had four kills and a block to lead the Blue Devils. Dryden also swept the JV match.
Dryden hosts Trumansburg on Friday night.
Edison 3, Spencer-Van Etten 0: At Elmira Heights, the Spartans swept the Panthers, 25-9, 27-25 and 25-12, led by Michelle Woychak’s eight kills and eight digs. Molleigh Malanoski had 10 assists and nine points on 13-for-14 serving, and Autumn Kennedy chipped in six assists and six points.
Watkins Glen 3, Newfield 0: At Newfield, Brooke Shaffer had four aces and Gabby LaRosa eight kills as the Senecas swept the Trojans, 25-23, 25-16 and 25-23. Keandra Malone had three kills and Emily Hatch had nine aces for Newfield.
