High School Roundup: Lapp cards 2-under 34 as Trumansburg golf opens with win

TRUMANSBURG

Eighth-grader Dan Lapp holed out from the fairway on the ninth hole for eagle to cap a round of 2-under 34 and lead the Trumansburg golf team to a 214-230 victory over visiting Lansing in Interscholastic Athletic Conference action Monday at Trumansburg Golf Course.

Anthony Mekos had a 43 and Aaron Oliver a 44 for the Blue Raiders, who travel to Whitney Point on Wednesday.

Jack Myers led the Bobcats with a 42. Lansing hosts Whitney Point on Friday.

IAC Baseball

* Trumansburg 11, Whitney Point 1: Less than a week after tossing a no-hitter, Trumansburg junior left-hander Cam Lueder went six innings and combined with Collin Fellows on a three-hitter as the Blue Raiders improved to 3-0.

T-burg scored four times in the first inning and broke the game open with four runs in the sixth. Lueder tossed a no-hitter in a 3-0 victory against Union Springs on Thursday; the Blue Raiders have outscored their three opponents by a combined 35-3.

* Elmira Notre Dame 14, Newark Valley 0: Aaron Carson tossed a complete-game two-hitter with 10 strikeouts, and went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Crusaders (1-1).

* Odessa-Montour 15, Candor 0: Ryan Gardner and Tanner Dupuy combined on a two-hitter as O-M won in its season opener. Damon Ogden took the loss for Candor (0-1).

IAC Tennis

* Union Springs 6, Moravia 1: Dustin Eshleman of Moravia won at first singles, but the Wolves took the rest of the singles and swept the doubles in the opener for both teams.
