High school roundup: No. 2 Chargers catch fire in win over Beresford

Cody Van Holland and Jordan Baker each scored 15 points to lead a hot-shooting night for the No. 2 Class A Sioux Falls Christian boys, who defeated Beresford 82-46 in the Watchdogs’ gym on Thursday.

Carson Long added 11 points for the Chargers, who were 12 of 18 from 3-point range and shot 70 percent from the field. SFC led 44-24 at halftime.

For Beresford, Logan Busch had 12 points and Oliver Doeden 10. SFC (18-0) hosts Garretson on Monday. Beresford (5-13) hosts Centerville on Saturday.

BROOKINGS 55, LINCOLN 47 in Brookings – Tyler Nagy scored 23 points while Braxton Carlson added 11 points to lead the No. 2 Bobcats. Brookings led 36-30 after three quarters.

For Lincoln, Caleb Rector had 14 points, Calvin Krause 10 points, Nermin Krdzalic eight rebounds and Adam Jaros five steals. Brookings (14-4) is at Watertown on Saturday. Lincoln (10-9) is at Roosevelt next Friday.

For Beresford, Alyson Johnson had 19 points and Taryn Twite 15. SFC (13-7) hosts Garretson in the District 6A tournament on Tuesday. Beresford (14-6) hosts Vermillion in the District 8A tournament on Tuesday.

CHESTER AREA 52, ARLINGTON 39 in Chester – Elena had Borah 21 points and Erin Benson 18 points and eight assists for the Flyers, who led 24-15 at halftime. For Arlington, Samantha Boeck had 14 points and Kim Van Bockern 13 points. Chester (9-11) hosts Dell Rapids St. Mary in the District 4B tournament. Arlington (6-13) hosts Great Plains Lutheran in the District 3B tournament.

CANTON 54, ALCESTER-HUDSON 50 in Canton – Atlanta Lundstrom paced the C-Hawks with 17 points and six assists, while Kristin Twedt added 13 points and nine rebounds and Janet VanDeStroet 11 points and five steals. Canton led 45-38 at halftime. For AH, Shenia Doering had 12 points and eight rebounds. Canton (8-12) is at Lennox on Tuesday for the District 7A tournament. AH (11-8) hosts Gayville-Volin on Tuesday for the District 8A tournament.

WEST CENTRAL 37, LENNOX 36 in Hartford – Ali Lacey had 11 points and Kylie Hanisch five steals for the Trojans, who led 22-21 after three quarters and held the lead throughout the fourth quarter. For Lennox, Tara Kuper had 13 points.
