Senior attack Ryan Van Bochoven tied the school record for goals in a game and freshman Liam Lilienthal tied the school record for goals in a season as the sixth-seeded Pequannock boys lacrosse team defeated No. 11 Pascack Hills 17-3 on Friday in the first round of the North Group I Tournament.
Van Bochoven scored seven goals and added two assists and Lilienthal chipped in a hat trick to give him 59 goals on the season for the Panthers (15-3). Junior goalie Curtis Thomson made 12 saves for his 13th win of the season which is a new single-season record. Senior midfielder Dan Swezey had a hat trick and sophomore midfielder Bryan Peters had two goals and two assists. Junior attack Tyler Macejka had one goal and three assists to increase his school record for points in a season to 98.
Pequannock will face No. 3 Madison in the quarterfinals.
North Warren 13, Glen Rock 4: Senior midfielder Nolan Robertson had four goals and two assists to lead the seventh-seeded Patriots (13-5) in a North Group I opening-round game on Thursday. Senior attack Tim Chayka had four goals and junior attack Devin Lyons had two goals and one assist. Junior goalie Andrew Palatini made six saves.
Chatham 17, River Dell 1: Junior attack Maddy Bowles had a hat trick and one assist to lead the third-seeded Cougars (8-8) in a North Group II opening-round game. Freshman midfielder Bridget Ballard had two goals and four assists and senior midfielder Lauren Maiorano had two goals and two assists. Junior midfielder Kennedy Krauss and sophomore attack Morgan Sullivan each had two goals and one assist. Chatham will face No. 6 Delaware Valley in the quarterfinals Tuesday.
West Morris 11, North Hunterdon 1 (5): Pitcher Matt Klein allowed one run on three hits and struck out four in five innings of work to lead the Wolfpack (14-11). Cameron Wanic went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored. Justin McPhail went 3-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored and was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle.
Randolph 12, Morristown 1 (6): Junior pitcher Tyler Poulin picked up the win for the Rams (20-6) after he allowed one run on four hits, walked five and struck out four in five innings of work. He also went 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI and a run scored. Junior Brian Boulineau went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.
Mount Olive 5, Morris Hills 2: Chris Somerville went 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI for the Marauders (15-10-1). Chris Grillo went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI and Bobby Shannon went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Matt Greco picked up the win on the mound after he pitched the final four innings and allowed one run on two hits and struck out one. For the Scarlet Knights (14-10-2), Brian Walls went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and an RBI.
