The Poudre High School tennis team won a thriller of a match 4-3 against Ralston Valley at Poudre on Wednesday. The two squads went toe-to-toe with each other, but ultimately the Impalas (4-1, 2-0 Front Range League) came out on top.
There was great action all over the court. A couple of the best matches came in doubles. Poudre’s No. 1 doubles team of Jordan Powers and Milica Notaros fell in the first set, but came fighting back to win 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. Poudre’s No. 2 doubles team of Koy Ecton and Raven Dick also won a three-set match. Numbers two and three singles players Sierra Crumbaker and Lauren Petersen both won in two sets as Poudre handed Ralston Valley (2-1) its first loss of the season.
FOSSIL RIDGE 7, BOULDER 0 — Without losing a set all day, the Fossil Ridge High School girls tennis team rolled to a sweep at Boulder on Wednesday. The SaberCats (4-2, 3-0 Front Range League) got a win at No. 1 singles when Shawnea Pagat beat Shanti VanVuuren 6-3, 6-2 in the closest match of the day. Both Kaitlyn Motley and Emma Wiley dropped only one set as they won their matches.
FORT COLLINS 7, LEGACY 0 — In its first match after spring break the Fort Collins girls tennis team dominated Legacy on the road. The Lambkins (4-0, 3-0 Front Range League) swept all seven matches. Coach Ed Kalin was especially pleased with how his singles players performed coming out of the break. No. 1 singles player Leah Fox won 6-2, 6-2. No. 2 singles Maria Lawson won 6-0, 6-2 and Lisa Chungsiriwat won 6-3, 6-4.
COLUMBINE 10, FORT COLLINS UNIFIED 6 — Columbine came to Fort Collins and took down the Fort Collins Unified lacrosse team. The Rebels moved to 4-3 on the season as Fort Collins fell to 3-3. Toby Bollig had three goals and an assist for the Vipers. Julian Richards had two goals, and A.J. Stewart had a goal and two assists.
