Alex Purcell and Kevin Price scored goals in a two-minute span late in the second half Wednesday night and undefeated Lansing scored a 2-0 victory over previously unbeaten Dryden in Interscholastic Athletic Conference North Division boys’ soccer.
The win lifted the Bobcats, ranked No. 1 in the state in Class C, to 8-0 on the season. Dryden fell to 8-1.
“The game was physical up and down all night … great mid-season atmosphere,” Lansing coach Adam Heck said. “It was a great team win, with great help from our bench. Dryden is a really tough team.”
After more than 68 scoreless minutes, Purcell put the home team ahead, collecting the ball on the left side of the penalty area and carrying in unmarked to score into the side netting. Then with 10:50 to play, Jason Yahn found Price on a slotted ball from the left side, and Price finished for the insurance goal.
Shots were even at nine apiece, while Lansing took seven corner kicks to Dryden’s three. Keeper Bryce Stanhope made six saves for the Bobcats, while Haile Cutter had five saves for Dryden.
The Bobcats travel to Groton today for a 4:30 p.m. game, while Dryden travels to Whitney Point for a 5:15 p.m. kickoff.
Trumansburg 6, Groton 0: At Groton, the 15th-ranked Blue Raiders bounced back from their 3-1 loss to Lansing earlier in the week by blanking the Indians, scoring three goals in each half. Kyle Carr had two goals, and Abreham Kittel added a goal and two assists for T-burg (7-2), which outshot the Indians 40-1.
Seamus Henehan had one save for the Blue Raiders; Tim Baxendell had 22 for Groton.
Trumansburg hosts Moravia today. Groton is off till Tuesday, when it travels to Southern Cayuga.
Spencer-Van Etten 8, Odessa-Montour 0: At Spencer, The Panthers improved to 8-0 by blanking the Indians as Jesse Tillotson had a pair of goals and Marcos Minamoto had a goal and two assists. S-VE keeper Lorenzo Garrone made three saves to get the shutout.
Joey Collins (5 saves) and Joe Rorick (3 saves) split time in the O-M net.

Corning 1, Ithaca 0: On Wednesday night in Corning, the Little Red saw its six-game win streak come to an end as Zach Quist scored a first-half goal to lift the Hawks (7-1).
Geoff Twardokus made seven saves for Ithaca (6-3), which was outshot 16-8.
Ithaca plays host to Binghamton at 7 p.m. today at Moresco Stadium.
Dryden 3, Whitney Point 0: At Whitney Point, the visiting Purple Lions improved to 5-1 with a 25-10, 25-10, 25-13 victory over the Eagles. Alex Zehr had five kills and Kayla Kucerak served nine aces and dished out 16 assists to lead the winners. Jordan Kemak had 11 assists and an ace for WP.
Tioga 3, Newark Valley 0: At Newark Valley, the Tigers (7-1) scored a straight-sets win over the Cardinals, 25-6, 25-21 and 25-10. Donette Hutchinson had 19 kills and Malley Bowen had nine assists for the winners.
