Kayla Rhoads picked a good time to attempt her only 3-pointer of the night.
Liberty Common was trailing Briggsdale by two points with less than two minutes showing on the clock when Rhoads, a sophomore, made just her third 3-pointer of the season that put the Eagles ahead.
They’d hold on to win their third consecutive game, 45-44.
“We were kind of flat to start off with. We played well and beat Resurrection Christian, one of our rivals (on Friday), so there was a lot of emotion,” Liberty Common coach Jesse Morrill said. “We came out flat, but it was a battle all the way through and we pulled through.”
Sophomore Molly Gillis led Liberty Commons (8-7) with 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Hannah Ellis added nine points.
After a one-game break from conference play, Liberty Common returns to Mile High League action Tuesday against Dayspring Christian Academy in Greeley.
RESURRECTION CHRISTIAN 8, CHERRY CREEK 1 — An offensive explosion led the Cougars on the road Saturday night to a dominating victory over Cherry Creek.
RCS scored three scores in the first period, three more in the second and two in the third, never giving the Bruins the slightest chance as Cherry Creek didn’t score until there was only a minute left in the game.
Goalie Tage Rustgi had 18 saves in front of the net for RCS and Tanner Ulland scored twice.
