High school roundup: Rocky Mountain baseball team wins slugfest with ThunderRidge

The Rocky Mountain High School baseball team rode an explosive start to a 13-11 win over ThunderRidge at home on Monday.

The Lobos (16-2) scored seven runs in the first inning and another five in the second inning. But ThunderRidge (14-5) slowly clawed its way back, scoring two runs in each of the third, fourth and sixth innings. The visitors then scored four in the seventh, but came up just short.

Rocky’s Casey Madigan went 2 for 3 at the plate with two RBIs and a double. Dane Raber, Cole Anderson and Grant Gamble all had two RBIs each. The win gives Rocky 14 consecutive victories ahead of the Lobos’ final regular season game Tuesday against Northglenn.

FORT COLLINS 2, MOUNTAIN RANGE 1 — Bookend runs was enough for the Lambkins as Fort Collins scored once each in the first and seventh innings to get the road win.

Fort Collins (8-11, 6-5 Front Range League) got a great pitching performance from Zach Fees, who threw six innings, allowing one run and striking out eight.

Blake Tomasino had hits in all three of his at-bats. He had a double, triple and a run scored. John Flint and Brandon Hahn had the RBIs for Collins.

WINDSOR 11, MEAD 3 — The Wizards scored a big victory in their last home game of the regular season.

David Watson had a triple and three RBIs. Tyler Shubert had two hits and two RBIs. Caleb Linnemann struck out 10, allowing three earned runs in seven innings to get the win.

Windsor (11-7, 8-5 Tri-Valley Conference) finishes its regular season Tuesday at Skyline.

RESURRECTION CHRISTIAN 8, BERTHOUD 7 — Down 5-0 entering the bottom of the fifth, Resurrection Christian mounted an impressive comeback for the non-conference win.

The Cougars (12-7) scored one in the fourth, two in the fifth and four in the sixth to enter the seventh inning tied 7-7. RCS then scored the winning run to shock Berthoud (7-12).

Luke Mondt had three RBIs and Del Richardson went 3 for 4 at the plate with a double and an RBI in the Cougars final regular season game.
