HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Wall volleyball rolls past Pennsauken Tech


The top-seeded Wall girls volleyball team pushed its record to 20-4 with a 2-0 win over No. 32 Pennsauken Tech in the first round of the NJSIAA Group II tournament Wednesday.

Wall’s Crimson Knights won each game 25-7.

For Wall, Veronica Portelli notched eight kills, two digs and three aces. Jessica Stansfield added four kills and six aces. Anna Litowinsky contributed two kills, two blocks and three aces.

JACKSON MEMORIAL 2, J.P. STEVENS 1: The 13th-seeded Jaguars (18-5) advanced in Group IV with a 25-12 win in the final game over the No. 20 Hawks.

Jackson’s Brianna Roath put up 12 kills and 15 digs in the match. Gianna Perez added five kills and 22 assists.

TOMS RIVER NORTH 2, NORTH BRUNSWICK 0: Danyelle Morales’ 23 digs and two aces propelled the No. 17 Mariners (13-9) past the No. 16 Raiders (15-9) in Group IV.

For Toms River North, Aubrey Binkley put 10 kills into the book. Amanda Wrightson added four kills and five blocks. Sydney Binkley handed out 21 assists and added two aces.

BARNEGAT 2, ORANGE 0: The ninth-seeded Bengals (18-7) received four aces and nine kills from Sara Ridgway in their Group II win over the No. 24 Tornadoes.

Meg Nichols added five aces and five kills. Maia Lloyd contributed three aces and three kills. Nikki Casertano added 24 assists.

CENTRAL 2, GARFIELD 1: Led by Audra Didzbalis’ 23 assists and six digs, the No. 10 Golden Eagles (13-5) ousted the No. 23 Boilermakers (13-18) from Group II.

Katelyn Kuster added 13 kills, 12 digs and two aces. Danielle Myers contributed four kills, 11 digs and three aces. Brianne Allender added four kills and eight digs. Samantha Farrua contributed six kills and seven digs.

ST. JOHN VIANNEY 2, ST. DOMINIC 0: Paced by Gaby Merced’s six kills, three digs and six aces, the No. 11 Lancers (18-4) bested the No. 22 Blue Devils in Non-Public action.

Haley Scheuer added five kills. Megan Romanczyk contributed seven aces. Megan McGrory added four kills.

MONSIGNOR DONOVAN 2, MARIST 0: Propelled by Lauren Pace’s four kills, two digs and seven aces, the No. 15 Griffins downed the No. 18 Royal Knights in Non-Public action.

Aime Sinor added nine assists. Paige Laurence contributed four kills, four digs and two aces. Ashey Gundling added nine digs. Nicole Staub contributed two kills, two digs and two aces.

RED BANK CATHOLIC 2, CAMDEN CATHOLIC 0: Sara Benjamin’s three kills and 13 assists led the No. 8 Caseys (21-5) past the No. 25 Irish (9-10) in Non-Public action.

Tara Rempel added three kills and four digs. Kristen Ryan contributed six digs and two aces.

MENDHAM 2, COLTS NECK 0: The No. 27 Cougars’ season ended at 14-12 with a loss to No. 6 Mendham (24-3) in Group III.

Shannon Tice led the Cougars with two digs, two blocks and seven kills. Molly Jackson added three aces, four digs and three kills.

MONTVILLE 2, FREEHOLD 0: Brooke Lundquist notched three kills and three digs and Laura Wroblesky added two kills and three blocks for the No. 25 Colonials (12-9) in their Group III loss to the No. 8 Mustangs.

WEST MORRIS CENTRAL 2, TOMS RIVER SOUTH 0: The No. 25 Indians ended their season at 13-8 with a loss to the No. 7 Highlanders in Group III.

VOORHEES 2, RUMSON 1: The No. 17 Bulldogs dropped the third game 25-21 to end their season at 11-9 in Group II.

Eleni Sourlis of Rumson had 21 assists and two digs in the match. Natalie Pellizzi added 11 kills and 10 digs. Kate Edwards contributed eight kills, four blocks and five aces.

RAMAPO 2, RED BANK 1: Losing the third game 25-17, the No. 27 Bucs closed their season at 8-12 with a loss to the No. 5 Raiders in Group II.

For Red Bank, Megan Reardon notched 11 kills and 11 blocks. Erin Sacharanski added 21 assists.

Field hockey

WALL 4, DELRAN 1: Emily Surgent and MaryCate Gallagher each had one goal and one assist while Nicole Kuerzi and Samantha Scire each added a goal as the top-seeded Crimson Knights (18-2) defeated the No. 4 seed Bears in an Central Group II semifinal.

MAINLAND 1, CENTRAL 0: Taylor Keehn made three saves for the No. 3 seed Golden Eagles (13-2) as they lost to the No. 2 seed Mustangs in a South Group III semifinal game.

Girls soccer

HOLMDEL 4, DELAWARE VALLEY 0: Gabriella Bair had two goals and one assist, Hannah Lee had one goal and one assist and Antonia Arena had one goal as the top-seeded Hornets (14-5-1) defeated the No. 9 seed Terriers (11-9-2) in an Central Group II quarterfinal game.
