Waverly wrapped up a berth in the Section 4 football playoffs Friday night with a 35-14 victory at Dryden in a Division IV game.
The Wolverines improved to 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the division. They host Lansing at 7 p.m. next Saturday in a game that will determine the division champion. Both teams have already qualified for the Section 4 Class C semifinals.
Dryden dropped to 4-3 (1-2 Division IV).
S-VE 30, Groton 6: At Spencer-Van Etten, the Panthers clinched a Section 4 Class D quarterfinal berth.
Spencer-Van Etten (5-2, 3-2 Division VII) finished tied with Moravia for second place in the division, but the Panthers earned the division’s second playoff berth based in its win over Moravia.
Moravia (4-3, 3-2) still has a shot at a wild-card berth to the Class D tournament.
Moravia 37, O-M 0: At Odessa-Montour, Moravia led 28-0 at halftime on the way to a Division VII victory over the Indians.
Odessa-Montour dropped to 0-7.
Binghamton 42, Corning 21: At Binghamton, Corning scored the game’s first touchdown before the Patriots took over in a Division I contest.
Patriots quarterback Dan Jeffrey passed for four touchdowns and ran for one.
Corning quarterback Adarius France scored on a 1-yard run with 2:56 left in the first quarter as the Hawks took a 7-0 lead. France left the game with a wrist injury in the second quarter and did not return.
Amman Weaver scored on a 1-yard run for Binghamton with eight seconds left in the first quarter. Jeffrey gave Binghamton the lead with an 11-yard run with 3:48 left in the half.
Binghamton missed a 32-yard field goal late in the first half, but the Patriots got a second chance on a roughing the kicker penalty. Jeffrey then found Bryan Morrison for a 7-yard touchdown pass on the last play of the half as the Patriots took a 21-7 halftime lead.
Austin Cates scored on an 8-yard run for Corning in the third quarter, and backup quarterback Kyle Grimaldi added a 5-yard touchdown run with 4:52 remaining.
Corning (3-4) closes the regular season at Union-Endicott next Saturday. Binghamton (6-1, 5-0 Division I) travels to unbeaten Elmira in a game that will decide the Division I champion.
Trumansburg 42, Edison 22: At Trumansburg, the Blue Raiders beat Division IV foe Thomas A. Edison to improve to 1-6.
Joe Ducot ran for 149 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries for Edison (1-6, 0-3). Tyler Troccia had 89 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries.
Edison (1-6, 0-3 Division IV) dropped its fifth straight. The Spartans host Dryden next Saturday.
Ithaca 104, Horseheads 82: At Horseheads, Ithaca improved to 8-0 with a Southern Tier Athletic Conference win over the Blue Raiders (5-2).
For Horseheads, Mary Edwards won the 200-yard individual medley (2:15.79) and Abbey Reimer won the 100 breaststroke (1:15.55).

STAC playoffs: Horseheads will play host to the winner of Saturday’s Oneonta vs. Windsor match in a STAC semifinal at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
In Tuesday’s other semifinal, Owego plays at Vestal at 5:30 p.m.
The championship game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the school with the smaller enrollment.
