HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Whippany Park girls soccer pushes past Villa Walsh

Sophomore midfielder Gina Dello Russo scored with 38 seconds left in the second overtime to lead the Whippany Park girls soccer team over Villa Walsh 2-1 in a Liberty Division matchup on Friday.

Freshman forward Natalie Turok also scored and senior defender Megan Lee had an assist for the Wildcats (9-7). Junior goalie Megan Gallagher made 10 saves. For the Vikings (9-5-1), junior midfielder Lauren Longo scored on an assist from sophomore forward Kate Murphy. Junior goalie Colleen Brennan made nine saves.

Mendham 2, Roxbury 0: Senior forward Alex Young had a goal and an assist for the Minutemen (7-8). Meghan Donovan also scored and junior midfielder Shannon Horan had an assist. Senior goalie Brianna Scarola made seven saves for the shutout.

Montville 2, Morris Knolls 0: Sophomore forward Gabby Babula and junior midfielder Stephanie Maggio both scored for the Mustangs (9-5-2). Senior midfielder Carly DeNigris and sophomore midfielder Larissa Iellimo had assists. Senior goalie Allison Hingle made four saves for the shutout.

West Morris 3, Chatham 0: Cassandra Montgomery scored twice to lead the Wolfpack (12-2-2). Junior forward Brooke Carty had a goal and an assist. Sophomore goalie Ilissa Webb made six saves for the shutout.

Villa Walsh 1, Morristown-Beard 0: Junior midfielder Grace Penders scored on an assist from junior defender Meghan Cullen to lead the Vikings (9-4-1) on Thursday. Junior goalie Colleen Brennan made four saves for the shutout. For the Crimson (4-8) goalie Bronte Healy made three saves.

Boys Soccer

Morris Knolls 1, Montville 0: Michael Chapman scored on an assist from Shazod Hairullaev to lead the Golden Eagles (10-4-1). Goalie Max Perzak made one save. For the Mustangs (6-7-4), goalie Kamil Rebisz also made one save.

Delbarton 3, Parsippany Hills 0: Tyler Bell, Brian Finn and Jared Stroud all scored for the Green Wave (14-1-1). Mike Moshier and Steven Stroud had assists. Goalie Scott Forbes didn’t make a save and recorded the shutout.

Lenape Valley 3, Hopatcong 1: Jeremy Nowling had a hat trick for the Patriots (8-4-1) on Thursday. Hannes Wolf chipped in two assists. For the Chiefs (7-9), Vaughn Caruso scored.

Field Hockey

Parsippany 1, Hackettstown 0: Senior forward Krysten Mayers scored the lone goal to lead the Red Hawks (15-0). Senior goalie Jasmine Chen made 11 saves for the shutout. Sophomore goalie Rose Bishop made three saves for the Tigers (10-5).

Mountain Lakes 3, Whippany Park 2: Sophomore midfielder Isabel Wessels had a goal and an assist for the Lakers (9-6-1). Senior forwards Ashley Moreno and Jill Catlett also scored. For the Wildcats (6-9-1), senior forward Alle Brueno had a goal and an assist. Junior forward Jamie Rehus also scored.

Kittatinny 1, Newton 0: Jenn Makarevich scored on an assist from junior midfielder Lindsay McKim to lead the Colts (7-6-3). Goalie Julia Pervarnik made six saves for the shutout. Junior goalie Jenna Zawislak made four saves for the Braves (5-9-1).

Boonton 7, St. Elizabeth 0: Senior forward Alex Matchett scored twice and senior midfielder Meghan Mollahan had a goal and two assists to lead the Bombers (8-8). Junior forward Maddy Leva and senior forward Maggie Coleman each had a goal and an assist. Brittany Spann chipped in two assists. Goalies Briannah Larsen and Emily Sorochynskyj combined for five saves and the shutout.
