High school roundup: Yeh sisters lead Liberty Common in shutout


Liberty Common rolled past Alexander Dawson on the road Monday, winning 4-0 in girls soccer action.

It was the Yeh sisters, Liz and Emily, doing the bulk of the damage for the Eagles. Liz Yeh, a sophomore, scored the match’s final goal and recorded an assist while senior Emily Yeh had two assists.

Liberty Common also got two goals from sophomore Hannah Archer.

The Eagles (8-1-1) are back in action Tuesday, hosting Longmont Christian at 4 p.m.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN 1, GREELEY WEST 0–The Lobos continued their six-match winning streak Monday, defeating Greeley West at French Field.

Senior Jordyn Seidel scored the afternoon’s only goal in the second half off an assist from classmate Heather Hall. Goalkeeper Michelle Kennedy had three saves.

Rocky Mountain (10-2-1) hasn’t lost a match since April 2 and will face Fort Collins on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The match will take place at Fossil Ridge.

FORT COLLINS 1, POUDRE 0–The Lambkins got a goal in the 72 minute Monday at French Field to defeat Poudre.

Katy Couperus scored on a corner kick from Aubrey Weappa, to break the tie. Fort Collins finished the night with 21 shots on goal to just three by the Impalas (3-9-2).

Fort Collins will play a makeup game against Monarch on Wednesday, but the location has not been set. If played in Boulder, it will be at 7 p.m., if in Fort Collins, kickoff will be at 4:30 p.m.


FAIRVIEW 11, POUDRE 1–The Impalas are still trying to find their first victory of the season. On the road at Fairview on Monday, it didn’t come, falling in a shortened five-inning game.

Fairivew’s Anders Hill hit two home runs and Jeff Clarke added another.

Poudre (0-14) will play at Fort Collins on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

FOSSIL RIDGE 10, GREELEY WEST 7–The SaberCats used a six-run sixth inning Monday to come from behind and beat Greeley West.

Fossil Ridge (7-10) trailed the Spartans 6-4 going into the bottom of the sixth when the offensive explosion happened. The SaberCats finished with 10 hits and only one error.

Fossil Ridge will play Loveland on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Swift Field.

Girls tennis

FOSSIL RIDGE 5, DENVER EAST 2–Fossil Ridge had no problem taking care of Denver East on Monday afternoon.

The SaberCats were led by their doubles teams, sweeping all four events. The highlight of the match was the No. 3 doubles team of Sam Lockwood and Sam Penhale, defeating East’s Lauren Wells and Caroline Berzins, 6-0, 6-0.

Kaitlyn Motley picked up the lone singles victory for Fossil Ridge in the No. 2 spot, taking care of Morgan Blanco, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1.

FORT COLLINS 4, LOVELAND 3–It was the doubles teams that helped the Lambkins close out Senior Day with a victory.

Fort Collins won the Nos. 2, 3 and 4 doubles spots, with the final match going to a 10-point tiebreaker, won by Callie Harward and Lisa Chungsiriwat. The point that put the match over the top for Fort Collins was in the No. 3 singles, where Taylor Campos defeated Kim Weissmann by defeault.

The Lambkins finish the regular season 7-2 and 5-2 in the Front Range League. They’ll head to Grand Junction for regionals Thursday.

WINDSOR 7, PRAIRIE VIEW 0–The Wizards didn’t lose a point to Prairie View and only lost five games all afternoon in the final regular season match of the year.

Windsor (9-1) advances to regional play Wednesday in Greeley.
