Liberty Common had a breakthrough season in its first year of CHSAA competition, but the Eagles’ girls soccer team fell Saturday to Colorado Academy, 4-0, in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs.
Colorado Academy (12-4) scored two goals in each half, as the Eagles (10-3-1) couldn’t get anything going on the offensive end.
“This was a really great year for us and we got a lot of experience reaching the second round of the playoffs,” Liberty Common coach Wade Torgeson said. “Going toe-to-toe with the defending state runner-up was great, but we still have a lot of work to do.”
Liberty Common will lose five seniors to graduation, but returns standout forward Liz Yeh.
LEGACY 2, ROCKY MOUNTAIN 1–The Lobos lost Saturday in the second round of the Class 5A soccer playoffs to No. 2 Legacy.
Both goals for the Lightning (15-2) were scored by junior Kelsey Killean. It was the second time this season Legacy had defeated Rocky Mountain (11-4-1) by the same score.
