Hillside rallies for win


A pair of late touchdowns rallied the Hillside High School football team to a 28-24 victory over Scotch Plains-Fanwood on Saturday.

Emendo Thomas led the Scotch Plains-Fanwood (1-1) offense with 14 carries for 114 yards and two touchdowns. Kobe White had a kickoff return for a score in the third quarter, reversing Hillside’s 14-9 lead into a 17-14 deficit.

Sam McQuoid had a big day defensively for the hosts. He finished with six tackles, two sacks and a safety.
