Patrick Boyle (3-1) pitched a one-hit complete game and Tim O’Leary’s two-run, two-out single in the bottom of the sixth was the difference on the scoreboard and South Plainfield beat Monroe 2-1.
South Plainfield (9-4) won its third straight and sixth out of seven. Boyle struck out seven and walked four. Aidan McDermott was 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Tigers.
Jeff Htam had Monroe’s hit.
Highland Park 10, Perth Amboy Tech 8: James Webb made a terrific catch to spoil Tech’s sixth-inning rally, scored the winning run in the bottom of the inning, then closed the game by striking out the side in the seventh. Juan Azcona went 2-for-4 with a two-run single in that put the Owls ahead.
Woodbridge 9, North Brunswick 4: Nick Bradshaw was 2-4 for Woodbridge with a homer and double. Juan Napoles (1-2) earned the win, striking out five with one earned run. North Brunswick took an early lead on Chris Iocca’s two-out RBI hit, but Woodbridge took control as Jesse Lammers slugged a two-run homer in the third to give the Barons a 2-1 lead in the third. Juan Penas went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored and Kyle Savoia was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
Dunellen 16, Wardlaw-Hartridge 6: Mike DeMaria went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, two RBI and two stolen bases for the Destroyers, while David Johnson earned the win with four innings of work. He allowed six hits. Junior catcher Cliff O’Brien went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI and John Anderson-Schmitt went 2-for-3 2with two runs scored for the Rams.
Piscataway 10, Old Bridge 8: Michael Campbell went six innings with five strikeouts for the win for the Chiefs (4-8). Adam Tricarico was 3-3 with a double, walk, three runs scored and four stolen bases for Piscataway, which lost 10-1 to Old Bridge (5-8) on Tuesday. George Nesler homered and had two RBI for the Chiefs.
South Amboy 13, Cardinal McCarrick 0: The Governors won the city’s annual Mayor’s Trophy Game. Winning pitcher Tim Kales scattered three hits. He struck out six and walked one. Senior Alex Olivares had three hits for South Amboy.
J.F. Kennedy 4, Colonia 2: Joe Stone went 3-for-3 and pitched four innings for the win. Adonis Hernandez had two RBI and fanned four for the save. Eric Giordano went 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Mustangs. Colonia’s Rusty Czapik was 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Edison 8, South Brunswick 0: Winning pitcher T.J. Polito had a four-hit shutout. Tory Manfre and James Lombardo each had three hits for Edison. Six different players plated runs for the Eagles.
Sayreville 12, Perth Amboy 1: The Bombers (9-3) scored eight runs in the fourth inning. The Panthers fell to 6-5.
New Jersey Tech Tournament
Bloomfield Tech 11, Piscataway Tech 1: Brandon Delemo and Jefferson Bonialla both singled for Piscataway Tech (0-10).
