HNT softball: Camera collects 100th hit, tosses no-hitter to lead Metuchen

Junior Nicole Camera went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run as she collected her 100th career hit while also tossing a no-hitter to lead the Metuchen High School softball team to an 11-0 five-inning victory over Dunellen on Wednesday in Dunellen.

Camera allowed only two baserunners — a walk issued in the first inning and an error on a one hopper hit to shortstop in the fourth inning, as she struck out nine batters.

Kaitlin Hueston went 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI for the Bulldogs (9-4) while freshman Chyanne Houck hit her first career home run, a two run shot in the third inning. Sam Hoffman also collected two hits in the win.

Dunellen is 3-10.

Bishop Ahr 11, Wall 3: Senior Megan Ryan launched a two-run home run in the top of the first inning as Bishop Ahr never looked back.

Ryan went 3-for-4 at the plate while senior Gaby Elvina went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three RBI for the Trojans (7-3). Ragen Reddick and Amanda Julve both also had three hits while Christine LaRochelle got the win, as she gave up three earned runs on six hits, struck out seven ,and walked one.

Kate Kilgallen hit a two-run single in the sixth inning for Wall (8-1), which suffered its first loss.

Middlesex 3, Cardinal McCarrick 2 (8 inn.): Salina Pellios hit a hard single to second base in the bottom of the eighth inning to score Katie Lauria from second base to lift Middlesex (4-6) to the walk off win.

Lauria allowed two runs on five hits for the win while Jessica Kennick went 2-for-2 with a home run for the Blue Jays.

Jackie Riley hit a game-tying RBI single with two outs in the top of the seventh inning for Cardinal McCarrick (6-3) while she allowed three runs on seven hits, striking out 12 and walking one as she took the loss.

Wardlaw-Hartridge 17, South River 0 (4 inn.): Ali Yamakaitis went 3-for-4 with a triple and seven RBI while Steph Smyczek 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, and four RBI to lead Wardlaw-Hartridge (9-0). Yamakaitis allowed only one hit for the shutout win. Bridget Laplante had the lone South River (7-5) hit.

Mother Seton 16, New Brunswick 3 (5 inn.): Lena Buccigrossi went 2-for-3 with a home run, double, amd four RBI to lead Mother Seton (4-4). Katelin Barone double, scoring and driving in three runs for the Setters, while Shannan McCarthy went 2-for-3 with a triple. New Brunswick is 0-10.

South Amboy 17, Woodbridge Academy 1: Andrea Garcia and Cheyenne Moskal each collected two hits and three RBI while Jessica Maliszewsk and Alexis Wojtowicz each had two hits and two RBI to lead South Amboy (7-3). Woodbridge Academy is 4-6.

East Brunswick Tech 26, Piscataway Tech 8: The Tigers improve to 2-8 while the Raiders are 0-10.
