It’s the final countdown. The Houston County boys soccer team is looking for their biggest win of the season on the biggest stage, in the 5A state championship.
The undefeated Bears advanced to the finals after a shutout win over Stars Mill, 5-0. The black and silver are led by 8 seniors, a balanced attack on offense and a stingy defense.
Saturday, they’ll take to the pitch one final time in search of the school’s first soccer state title.
Senior Everick Little is excited about the big game, “The whole year we have been preparing ourselves for McIntosh because they are supposedly the number one team in the state and the good rankings. So every time we’ve played a team that they have played already, we just compare our scores and see how hard we need to prepare and match them. I think we have come far and we are better than them and should win the championship. Our head coach Jason Kirk always tells us our goal of the season should be to win our last game and we have the possibility to win our last game and win a championship at that.”
Game time is 7:30 Saturday night at West Georgia State College in Carrollton.
