A missed extra point by Canton after a fourth-quarter touchdown allowed Germantown to escape with a 28-27 win on Friday night. Chester Lewis ran for 201 yards and two TDs and Reed James booted 42- and 36-yard field goals for the Mavericks (7-3). Felix Morment ran for two TDs and Keonta Brown had a TD run and a TD pass for Canton (4-6), which trailed 28-14 in the fourth quarter before rallying with two TDs.
1 South Panola 22, Grenada 0: Top-ranked South Panola and Grenada were scoreless at the half and the Tigers led only 3-0 through three quarters, but scored three fourth-quarter TDs. Roosevelt Jones had two TD runs and Rip Kirk threw a 35-yard scoring pass to Ephraim Kitchens as South Panola improved to 10-1 and remained unbeaten against state competition.
7 Pascagoula 28, George Co. 13: Andrew Dunn threw TD passes to four different receivers for seventh-ranked Pascagoula (9-1).
Oak Grove 42, Provine 0: Kirk McCarty passed for 205 yards and four TDs, including two to Logan Scott, for fourth-ranked Oak Grove (9-1).
Callaway 31, Vicksburg 12: Kendarius Rogers scored on a 55-yard punt return, Ronald Walker took an interception 20 yards for a TD and Marcus O’Neal booted a 25-yard field goal and four PATs for Callaway (10-1).
Jackson Aca. 49, Starkville Aca. 3: Duncan Maxwell ran for two TDs and caught a 67-yard scoring pass from Colin Welsh, and Daniel Kennedy contributed scoring runs of 14 and 52 yards for JA (8-2), the top-ranked team in Academy AAA. Starkville (3-7) scored on a 27-yard field goal by Jonathan Burton.
Forest 48, Choctaw Central 14: Chris Mazique threw two TD passes to Telandus Craft and scored on a 14-yard run for Forest (8-3). Demarquis Wilson accounted for all the scoring for Choctaw (1-10) with TD passes of 23 and 75 yards to Brandon Kennedy and two PATs.
Madison St. Joseph 21, Pisgah 0: Chris Hanneke ran for a TD and threw for another for St. Joe (8-3).
Velma Jackson 38, St. Andrew’s 12: Emmanuel Ross ran for 267 yards, three TDs and three 2-point conversions for Velma Jackson (6-5). St. Andrew’s (5-6) scored on a 3-yard run by Graham Gorgan and a 29-yard pass from Bennie Kirkland to Ryan McCarty.
Simpson Aca. 38, Brookhaven Aca. 14: Daniel Taylor ran for three TDs, and Mason Herrin for two for Simpson in the opening round of the Academy AA playoffs. Simpson (10-1) is the top seed. Brookhaven finished 4-7.
Pelahatchie 41, East Oktibbeha 0: Six different players scored TDs for Pelahatchie (8-2), with Tony Beeman accounting for two with an 18-yard run and a 6-yard pass to Desmond Magee.
Lee Aca. 35, Canton Aca. 27: Shaw Johnson threw two TD passes and Tyler Stanley ran for a TD and caught a scoring pass from Johnson for Lee (9-2) in the Academy AA playoffs. Lafayette Wales had two TD runs for Canton (7-4).
Lafayette 50, Byhalia 13: Devon Thomas threw two TD passes to Dillon Helm and one to Montreal Nabors for Lafayette (6-5).
Hinds AHS 24, Resurrection 17: Paedrin Warnsley ran for two touchdowns and Darius West had 124 yards and one TD on the gorund for Hinds (7-4). Larry Sisson had a TD run and threw a scoring pass for Resurrection.
Wayne Co. 28, West Jones 17: Elijah Pugh ran for 141 yards and two TDs and David Hodo passed for 273 yards and one score as Wayne County (8-2) overcame an early 10-0 deficit with three second-quarter TDs.
Franklin Co. 30, Jefferson Co. 6: Darrin Wiley scored TDs on a 6-yard run and a 10-yard interception return for Franklin County (6-4). Jefferson County scored its TD on a 1-yard run by Arthur Norton.
Presbyterian Chr. 49, Columbia Aca. 20: Fate Eiland and Isaiah Woulard combined to run for 426 yards and five TDs for Presbyterian (7-4). Wiley Cleland ran for a TD and threw for a score for Columbia (3-7).
D’Iberville 41, Hattiesburg 20: Jojo Warrick passed for threw TDs and ran for one and Rashad Moore scored on a 56-yard reception and a 49-yard run for D’Iberville (8-2).
