A former coach once told Mishicot senior outfielder Kelly Wilfert a weakness in her game was her hitting.

Well, Wilfert only led the Olympian Conference this season in both batting average (.600) and on-base percentage (.623) en route to being named the HTR Media All-Area Softball Player of the Year.

“Kelly was a very dedicated player,” said Mishicot coach Dawn Krueger. “Her work ethic to improve was next to none. If she had a bad day at practice she’d spend hours working with her club team the Lakeshore Rise to get her swing back on track.”

Among Wilfert’s other gaudy statistics include a team-high 19 RBI and a slugging percentage of .840, both of which were second in the OC. She was also a force on defense, amassing 25 put outs patrolling center field.

Wilfert will be attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fall and is considering trying out for the softball team.
