Lourdes Academy 66, St. Mary Central 13: The Zephyrs opened the scoring in the first quarter against the Knights.
But the time the period was over, it was Lourdes Academy that had the overwhelming lead.
The Knights posted seven touchdowns in the first quarter and built a 53-7 lead en route to the easy win on J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.
“I’ve never seen a 53-point quarter in my life,” Lourdes coach Shane Obrigewich said.
Lourdes recovered two onside kicks, picked off a pair of St. Mary Central passes and had a bunch of quick scoring drives in the first period.
Charlie Noone scored every time he was involved in a play in the opening period, running for touchdowns of 23 and 40 yards on his two carries and then throwing two passes — both for touchdowns. He connected with Kyle Hellman for a 63-yard score and with Sam Seibold for a 60-yard touchdown.
