Icy conditions at state

Snowflakes and a pair of records fell on Friday at the Alaska state track and field championships in Fairbanks.

The Anchorage Daily News reports that Seward’s Tessa Adelmann set a Class 1-2-3A record in the shot put and Raissa Boskofsky of Port Lions broke the small-school record in the high jump.

It’s a good thing they de-iced that shot put circle!

For the, ahem, record, the 27-degree low Friday was three degrees warmer than the all-time low in Fairbanks on May 17, which was set in 1992.
