THE WINNER: Dani Failor


School: Post Falls (Idaho)
Grade: Senior
Position: Forward
Height: 6-foot

Athletic achievement: She led the Trojans to a 24-1 record and the Class 5A state title this past season. Failor averaged 12.2 points and 8.1 rebounds per game and shot 52 percent from the floor. A two-time First Team All-State selection, Failor recorded double-doubles in the final two games of the state tournament, including an 11-point, 11-rebound effort over Coeur d’Alene (Idaho) in the state title-clinching victory.

Academic excellence: Failor has maintained a 3.86 GPA.

Exemplary character: An accomplished pianist, she is a member of the National Honor Society and her school’s student council, and has volunteered locally on behalf of the Kootenai Medical Center.


“Dani Failor is not only dedicated to the sports she plays, she is also an excellent student who does as much as she can to help the community,” said Bryan Kelly, head coach at Lake City (Coeur d’Alene, Idaho). “Her dedication to sports and bettering society is something that doesn’t come around very often.”

THE FUTURE: Failor will attend the United States Military Academy.
