School: St. Ignatius Prep (Chicago)

Grade: Senior

Position: Midfielder

Height: 5-foot-7

Athletic achievement: He scored 11 goals and passed for 17 assists this past season, leading the Wolfpack (20-4-1) to the regional semifinal in the Class 3A Hinsdale Central Sectional Tournament. An All-American selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, Medina participated in the High School Soccer All-American Game in Birmingham, Ala., in December. He concluded his prep soccer career with 37 goals and 41 assists. 

Academic excellence: Medina has maintained a weighted 3.94 GPA.

Exemplary character: He has volunteered locally as an elementary school tutor and youth soccer coach.


“Brandon Medina is technically amazing,” said Robert Watson, head coach of Fenwick (Oak Park, Ill.). “He has very good foot skill, awareness and technical ability. He is dangerous and a threat to score from anywhere. He is the field general for Ignatius and literally makes them tick.”

THE FUTUREMedina will attend Northwestern.
