The Class 1A 13th-ranked Iowa Mennonite School volleyball team beat Regina in the finals of the Washington Tournament on Saturday in Washington.

IMS won 25-22, 25-21.

In pool play, IMS beat Wilton 21-14, 21-17, lost to Regina 21-19, 21-15, and beat Sigourney 21-14, 21-18. IMS beat Keota 25-23, 25-15 in the semifinals before the rematch with the Regals.

Junior outside hitter Demi Brezina suffered an ankle injury while warming up and did not play in the tournament. Freshman Alijah Beatty replaced her in the lineup and made 15 digs.

Olivia Yutzy had 35 kills, 32 digs and served 38-for-38 with three aces; Casey Perez had 22 kills, 61 assists, 32 digs and three aces; Natalie Graber had 16 kills; Hannah Miller had 16 kills and 16 digs; McKayla Brush served 42-for-46 with 11 aces; and Kristin Davis had 40 digs and served 38-for-40 with four aces.

IMS is 22-9.

Bettendorf Tournament

* CITY HIGH: The Little Hawks went 2-2 in Bettendorf.

City beat Clinton 21-15, 7-21, 19-17, beat North Scott 21-13, 21-13, lost to Ankeny 21-10, 21-17, and lost to Bettendorf 25-18, 25-13 in the semifinals.

“Overall, we’re beating the teams on paper we should beat and losing to teams that according to rankings they think we should lose to,” City coach Craig Pitcher said. “At times things really went well, and at times we got into a rut and couldn’t find a way out.

Mikaela Nelson had 28 kills and 19 digs, Allison Fleming had 15 kills, Alexa Aldrich Ingram had 12 kills, Ruth Grace had 58 assists, and Sabrina Rogers had 18 digs.

City is 14-10.

Westside Invitational

* WEST HIGH: The Class 5A ninth-ranked Women of Troy went 1-2 in Cedar Rapids.

West lost to Class 4A No. 11 Marion 24-22, 18-21, 15-8 and beat Des Moines Roosevelt in pool play, and lost to Class 1A No. 1 Dike-New Hartford 25-11, 25-13 in the Gold Bracket.

“We just played without emotion. It was disappointing,” West coach Kathy Bresnahan said. “We didn’t quite have it today.”

Mollie Mason had 15 kills and 31 digs for the Women of Troy, Mikaela Morgan had 12 kills, Laynie Whitehead had 23 assists, and Lizzy Klemme had 19 assist.

West is 19-9.

* WEST LIBERTY: The Comets took fourth place in the Silver Bracket.

In pool play, West Liberty lost to Cedar Rapids Xavier 16-21, 21-14, 15-7 and beat Williamsburg 22-20, 17-21, 15-8. In the Silver Bracket, West Liberty beat Cedar Rapids Washington 20-25, 25-17, 15-13.

West Liberty lost to Des Moines Roosevent 25-22, 25-17 in the semifinals and lost to Cedar Rapids Jefferson 25-16, 25-2 in the third-place match.

C.R. Prairie Tournament

* WEST BRANCH: The Class 2A 11th-ranked Bears went 3-2 in Cedar Rapids.

West Branch beat Cerdar Rapids Prairie 21-16, 21-18, beat Western Dubuque 21-14, 21-13, beat West Burlington 21-15, 21-9, lost to Class 5A No. 5 Johnston 21-12, 18-21, 15-11, and lost to Class 1A No. 1 Holy Trinity 21-17, 23-21.

Madison Russell had 38 kills, four blocks and 34 digs for the Bears; Haley Poula had 25 kills, five blocks and 27 digs; Ashley Finnegan had 24 kills and 23 digs; Jenae Murry had 11 kills and three blocks; Bailey Lukavsky had seven kills and four blocks; Abby Knoop had seven kills and four blocks; Trystin Luneckas had 48 assists and five aces; Allyson Simpson had 55 assists; and Leah Hott had 14 digs.

West Branch is 23-7.
