The video above comes from last Friday’s game between Gehlen Catholic (LeMars, Iowa) and North Union (Armstrong, Iowa). In it, Gehlen Catholic QB Blake Wiltgen is about to be sacked on a two-point conversion attempt when he chucks the ball into the end zone, toward no one in particular.
Somehow, Gehlen Catholic receiver Colton Kneip comes down with the ball, much to the surprise of the three Union defenders in the vicinity.
Here’s how the ridiculous play was described in the LeMars Daily Sentinel:
Eight minutes into the first quarter, Gehlen landed the first punch of the night on a 10-yard touchdown pass from senior quarterback Blake Wiltgen to Aaron Jentz. Colton Kneip caught the two-point conversion, and the boys in green and gold were up 8-0.
Yeah, that pretty much sums it up. Gehlen Catholic went on to win, 46-26.
Thanks to Bob’s Blitz for bringing this video to our attention.
