Ward Melville (East Setauket, N.Y.) outfielder Greg Coman made one of the greatest catches you’ll ever see in last weekend’s county championship game against Connetquot. It counted as a three-run homer.

With two men on, Connetquot’s Brandon Morse sent a deep drive to left field. Coman raced back and made the catch while leaping over the fence. After some discussion, the umpires determined that Coman was outside the field of play when he made the grab and awarded Morse a home run.

Ward Melville would go on to win, 12-5, and Coman received the star treatment at school.

Ward Melville defeated Massapequa, 1-0, on Tuesday to capture its first Class AA Long Island championship.
