Indianapolis area ranks No. 3 nationally for high school football

We’re not No. 1, but No. 3 isn’t bad either.

MaxPreps.com ranked Indianapolis as the No. 3 metro area for high school football for the 2013 season, behind only Los Angeles and Dallas.

The metro area placed seven teams on the MaxPreps national computer rankings, the highest being defending Class 5A state champion Lawrence Central at No. 11.

The rest:

* No. 55 – Ben Davis.

* No. 87 – Cathedral.

* No. 102 – Center Grove.

* No. 125 – Pike.

* No. 126 – Carmel.

* No. 164 – Bishop Chatard.

Cincinnati ranked just behind Indianapolis at No. 4, followed by Chicago, Cleveland, Houston, Austin, New York and Atlanta. New York’s Paramus Catholic is ranked as the No. 1 team nationally by MaxPreps.
