It wasn’t a bad day at the office — er, running track — for Sheboygan South’s Taylor Gregory.

Gregory claimed first place in two events and grabbed second in another to help pace the Redwings boys track and field team in an impressive showing at the Sheboygan North boys indoor track and field invitational.

South, which also got a first-place finish in the 400 run by Dylan Markelz, had more first-place finishes of any area school at the 12-team meet. The Redwings took third place overall, nestling in behind dominant Freedom and West Bend West.

Gregory won the 55-meter hurdles, finishing the race in 8.04 seconds. He also completed a 41-foot, 10.25-inch leap in the triple jump — his other first-place finish of the day. He took a close second in the long jump, where he finished with a distance of 20-02.75.

Markelz paced the 400 run in 55.81 seconds.

Tyler Griessmeyer handed event host Sheboygan North its only first-place finish of the day, pacing the field of 55-meter dash runners with a 6.88-second finish. The Golden Raiders placed sixth in the invitational.

Aaron Field helped give Kiel a pair of first-place finishes. He won the 200 dash (25.22), and helped the Raiders win the 640 relay (1:21.04). Austin Field, Adam Hecker and Justin Bertram were also part of that relay.

Plymouth’s Andrew Ziegler earned a first-place finish in the pole vault after launching himself to a height of 12 feet, 6 inches.

Kiel and Plymouth both finished tied for eighth at the meet.

Team scores: Freedom 106.5, West Bend West 99, Sheboygan South 64, Little Chute 61, West Bend East 50, Sheboygan North 49.5, Oak Creek 48, Kiel 41, Plymouth 41, Manitowoc Lincoln 28, Sheboygan Falls 19, Slinger 17.
