James Blackmon Jr. breaks father's school record for points in a game


James Blackmon Jr., needed only one game at Marion, Ind., to break his father's school record for most points in a game. The senior guard, who transferred from Bishop Luers (Fort Wayne) to Marion for his senior year, had 54 points in a 102-42 defeat of Irvington Prep (Indianapolis) on Wednesday. His total eclipses the mark of 52 set by James Blackmon Sr., now the Giants' head coach.

James Jr., who has said he will sign with Indiana, had 23 points in the first quarter and made his first five three-pointers and finished nine-for-11 from beyond the arc.
