Chef of the Week
In sports the term “cookin'” is reserved for a player who goes on a scoring spree or gets hot during a game and makes big plays on the offensive end.
This week’s “Chef of the Week” award goes to Saint John’s (Houston) wing Justise Winslow, a Duke signee, for his 43-point, 18-rebound performance in a 64-46 win over Westside (Houston).
Poster of the Week
This week’s Poster of the Week winner is Wesleyan Christian (High Point, N.C.) wing Theo Pinson for the hammer he dropped last weekend against Ravenscroft (Raleigh, N.C.).
Pinson, a North Carolina signee, blew past his man at the top of the key, darted to the paint and rose over a Ravens defender to flush a nasty one-hander.
And, yes, it was plenty vicious; evident of the crowd’s eruption.
Pinson finished with 26 points to lead the Trojans, ranked No. 22 in the USA Today Super 25, past the Ravens, 64-48.
Oh No They Didn’t!
This award is reserved for the player who turned in a mind-boggling performance or play that left the crowd in a state of shock and amazement.
This week’s “Oh No They Didn’t” winner is Robinson (Concord, N.C.) sophomore Jordan McKenzie for the sick dunk he caught off a teammate’s miss.
McKenzie crashed the boards at the perfect time and punched it back with authority. He finished with 20 points, seven rebounds and six assists.
