Chef of the Week

In hoops the term “cookin'” is reserved for a player who goes on a scoring spree or gets hot during a game and makes big plays on the offensive end.

This week’s Chef of the Week award goes to Curie (Chicago) center Cliff Alexander for his dominant play at the LeBron James Skills Camp in Las Vegas this week.

Alexander was virtually unguardable for the entire camp, dunking everything he touched and making easy work of would-be defenders.

Poster of the Week

This week’s Poster of the Week winner is Loyola (Los Angeles) guard Khalil Bedart-Ghani for the poster he created during a recent summer league game.

Yes, Bedart-Ghani collected the Poster of the Week award a few weeks back for a similar highlight, but after seeing the latest poster it was evident that he’d earned more hardware.

Bedart-Ghani took a pass in stride at the low block and, all in one motion, rose up for a dunk when suddenly a defender attempted to block his attempt.

Bad idea.

Bedart-Ghani continued his ascension over the top of the defender and threw down a vicious chest-to-chest one handed dunk that made the small crowd go wild.

Oh No They Didn’t!

This award is reserved for a player who turned in a mind-boggling performance or play that left the crowd in a state of shock and amazement.

This week’s “Oh No They Didn’t” winner is Genesis Academy (Lynchburg, Va.) point guard Dillon Beaver for starring in the NC Pro Am summer league last week.

The league features mostly college and pro players and Beaver more than held his own.

Going head-to-head with college and pro players and even winning the matchup on occasion?

Oh yes he did!
