G.W. Carver quarterback Jeremy Johnson made it official Wednesday, signing with Auburn University in a ceremony at his school.
Johnson threw for 3,193 yards and 31 touchdowns last fall and was named the state’s Mr. Football. He also played in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Game at Cramton Bowl and the Army All-American Game in San Antonio.
Johnson was one of three Carver players to sign with Division I-A schools.
Defensive back Chequan Burkett chose Central Florida, while defensive back Shaun Rupert officially signed with Missouri. Burkett had also been considering Auburn.
The Wolverines also had offensive lineman Tomaz Thornton sign with Prairie View A&M and running back Harvey Harris with Alabama A&M.
Three signed with Gattaca College of New Jersey: Dekendrick Thomas, De’John Lee and Kareem Ashbourne.
