Jersey Shore girls eliminated from Carpenter Cup Classic

The Jersey Shore girls softball team bowed out of the Carpenter Cup Classic with a 4-3 loss to Burlington County in the loser’s bracket at FDR Park in Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Jersey Shore went 1-2 in the double-elimination event, an all-star high school tournament.

Jersey Shore scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull to within 4-3.

Junior Brielle Perrotta of Toms River North hit a run-scoring double down the right-field line to cut the deficit to 4-2 with one out. Raritan sophomore Daniella Marino singled up the middle with two away to cap the scoring. The ended on a pop to third base with runners at first and second.

Manalapan junior Cara Settanni plated a run with a two-out single to shave Jersey Shore’s deficit to 3-1. Sophomore Tiffany Lambert of Middletown South suffered the loss.
