Corinne Jones scored two goals Monday, both off assists from Emily Walther, as the 22nd-seeded Middlesex High School girls soccer team blanked No. 23 J.F. Kennedy 3-0 in the play-in round of the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament.

Katie Nicholson also hit for the Blue Jays (4-11), who will visit No. 11 seed Woodbridge on Wednesday.Clare Lewis made eight saves and Jackie Soper turned aside five shots for the Mustangs (4-13).

Timothy Christian 5, South Amboy 0: Sabrina Solorzano scored three goals, before moving to keeper and making two saves, as 19th-seeded Timothy Christian advanced. Rebekah Aviles, who also made a save in net to share the shutout, joined Mary Heffner in scoring a goal for the Tigers (11-4-1), who will visit 14th-seeded Piscataway on Wednesday. No. 26 seed South Amboy fell to 0-15.

Cardinal McCarrick 6, Perth Amboy 0:Megan Kosa and Nicole Rogan each tallied two goals and two assists to power 20th-seeded Cardinal McCarrick into the second round. Kelsey Edwards and Kim Szalgyi also hit for the Eagles, who will visit No. 13 Wardlaw-Hartridge on Wednesday. Roxana Ortiz scored for the 25th-seeded Panthers.

J.P. Stevens 2, Edison 0:Katia Olden headed in two Kristen Shea corner kicks during the second half to lead J.P. Stevens (7-7-1) past its crosstown rival. Erin Shea made four saves to earn the shutout as the Hawks improved to 7-7-1. Kaitlin Marold stopped 13 shots for Edison (10-5-2).

Hillsborough 2, Sayreville 0:Arielle Curtis and Carly Swetz scored goals to lead Hillsborough. Kelly Raub made 15 saves for Sayreville.

Boys soccer

Piscataway Tech 3, Somerset Tech 0:Celin Rojas scored two goals and Sonny Garcia added another to power Piscataway Tech (11-4). Uriel Vasquez added two assists for the Raiders (11-4), while Josh Trapp made six saves for the shutout. Chris Geissler stopped 11 shots for the Runnin’ Jags (7-9).

J.F. Kennedy 6, South Amboy 0:Sophomore Johnny Evangelou posted a hat trick and Ryan Dean, Steven Solano and Matt Scalia all added goals for J.F. Kennedy.

Timothy Christian 6, Woodbridge Academy 1:Matt DiLeo scored three second-half goals and David Figueroa posted a goal and three assists for Timothy Christian (14-2). Varun Uchil hit for Woodbridge Academy (2-11-1).

Field hockey

Franklin 5, Ranney 0: Jada Foster opened the scoring and Chylah Gavin posted her first goal of the season off of an assist by Ebun Osuntuyi with 12:55 left in the first half. Osuntuyi added her own goal 6:11 into the second half. Tonyea Byrd scored twice in the second half, both unassisted, as the Warriors improved to 6-9.
