School: Olathe East (Olathe, Kan.)
Grade: Junior
Position: Midfielder
Height: 5-foot-6

Athletic achievement: She has led the Hawks to a 14-2-1 record and a berth in the Class 6A state quarterfinals against Blue Valley Northwest (Overland Park, Kan.), scheduled for May 21. Hanson scored 13 goals and passed for 16 assists through 17 games. She was a 2012 First Team All-Sunflower League selection and a 2012 Second Team All-Region honoree by the Northeast Kansas Soccer Coaches Association.

Academic excellence: Hanson has maintained a 3.5 GPA.

Exemplary character: A representative on the Olathe East High student council, she has volunteered locally as part of multiple community service initiatives in association with her church youth group.


“Hanson is a blue collar, great work ethic type of player,” said Huw Williams, Hanson’s club coach with Sporting Blue Valley. “But she is also much more as she is technical and powerful. She also creates and scores goals and is very versatile.”

THE FUTURE: Hanson has verbally committed to Nebraska.
