Third-seeded J.F. Kennedy (18-8) rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning for a 4-3 comeback win over Governor Livingston on Sunday in North 2 Group III.

After Casie Williams and Rachel Andrejcak singled, Crystal Carlucci singled up the middle to score one run. The relay throw got away from the catcher, allowing Andrejcak to also score, while Carlucci kept running and scored the tying run as the catcher was going after the ball. After a pair of singles, Brittany Paulikas’ sacrifice fly drove in the go-ahead run.

Carlucci scattered nine hits, allowing one earned run for the win. Eleventh-seeded Gov. Livingston (15-9) had the bases loaded with one out in the sixth and put runners on second and third with no outs in the seventh, but Carlucci escaped both jams. The Mustangs will host either Mendham or Roxbury in Tuesday’s semifinals.

Nutley 3, South Plainfield 0: The fifth-seeded Tigers (18-9) were shut out, falling to fourth-seeded Nutley (23-6) in North 2 Group III.
