The Kentucky Country Day girls’ lacrosse team will begin defense of its state title when it hosts Oldham County Saturday at noon in a state tournament quarterfinal.
KCD has won three of the past five state championships, including a 12-7 victory over Sacred Heart in last year’s final.
Saturday’s other girls’ quarterfinals will match Ballard at Sacred Heart at 3 p.m., Christian Academy at North Oldham at 11 a.m. and Assumption at Collegiate at 1 p.m.
Tuesday’s semifinals (5:30 and 7 p.m.) and Thursday’s final will be played at Sacred Heart.
The boys’ state tournament will start Monday. St. Xavier, which has won five straight state titles, will host South Oldham at 7 p.m.
Wednesday’s semifinals (6 and 8 p.m.) and Friday’s final (7 p.m.) will be played at St. X.
